The role holder is responsible for supporting the Head of Government and Public Affair in the following areas:
* building and deepening trusted relations with external stakeholders, including local government officials, industry associations and peers, Chamber of Commerce, and think tanks in Eastern and Western China
* supporting engagement of external stakeholders in China through high-visibility platforms and regular communications
* sharing of intelligence and insight, and enhancing collaboration/coordination with business functions in China and the rest of the Bank's network
* implementing China government and public affairs strategic plan aligned with China's business priorities, the Group Public Affairs strategy, and the Corporate Affairs Collective Agenda
Key Roles and Responsibilities

* Delivering timely and high quality reporting and intelligence on political, economic and regulatory policy changes
* Supporting the development and implementation of Government and Regulatory Relations Plan (GRRP ) and Government and Regulatory Relations Forum (GRFF) in Eastern and Western China
* Proactively identifying and forming trusted relationships with key government entities and influencing regulators/government related organisations to ensure the Bank's interests are represented, with focus on areas such as financial and banking reform
* Working closely with business functions to deliver lobbying strategies on specific streams of public policy engagement, with focus on market access, capital market development, Here for good messaging, and new business opportunities
* Identifying and coordinating opportunities for senior management to act as "trusted counsel" to government and policy makers on key policy issues so as to demonstrate thought leadership and build bank profile
* Supporting senior executive visits to Eastern and Western China, including meeting arrangement, messaging preparation and on-site coordination and supports
* Supporting inbound and out bound visitors of strategic importance to the Group, including tracking, coordination, providing messaging and on-site supports, reporting, etc.
* Collaborating with colleagues across CA to ensure continuous collaboration and improvement in the function
* Providing other supports to the China PA team as needed
Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge
* Deep experience of public affairs in China, in particular government and regulatory issues pertinent to banking and financial sector
* Good understanding of commercial banking, including key products/services, financial market operations, macro economic environment/dynamics of China, etc.
* Understanding of key public policies and regulations in China
* Knowledge of the latest intelligence on politics and policy change as well as the impact of that to the Bank
* Understanding and proven track record of coordinating opportunities for Senior Management to engage with government and key political actors
Skills
* Strong analytical skills and ability to make feasible suggestions to benefit business growth
* Excellent networking skills with external and internal stakeholders
* Forms effective relationships with key Stakeholders across the matrix
* Ability to work effectively with the Bank's Senior Management (Country/Region/Group)
