The Role
- As the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in driving business performance, profitability, and strategic decision-making across the retail operation.
- You will partner with senior leadership to assess trading performance, identify growth opportunities, and support the delivery of commercial initiatives.
- Analyse sales, margin, stock, and category performance to provide clear recommendations that improve revenue and profitability.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes, ensuring commercial targets are realistic, measurable, and aligned to broader business goals.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including merchandise, retail operations, marketing, and finance to deliver initiatives that improve trading outcomes.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to help shape pricing, promotions, and product strategies.
- Build and maintain reporting frameworks, dashboards, and performance insights that enable timely and informed decision-making.
- Identify risks and opportunities within the business and provide practical solutions to improve efficiency, cost control, and commercial return.
- Contribute to strategic projects such as range planning, promotional reviews, business case development, and performance optimisation.
- Bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with the ability to move comfortably between high-level planning and day-to-day commercial analysis.
About You
- You have proven experience in a Commercial Manager, business partnering, or senior commercial/financial analysis role, ideally within retail, fashion, apparel, or consumer goods.
- You understand the commercial drivers of a retail business, including sales performance, gross margin, stock flow, pricing, and promotional effectiveness.
- You're highly analytical and confident working with data to generate meaningful insights and practical recommendations.
- You have strong financial acumen and experience with forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and performance analysis.
- You are comfortable influencing stakeholders at different levels and can build strong relationships across both operational and head office teams.
- You have excellent communication skills and can translate complex data into clear, commercially relevant insights.
- You're proactive, solutions-focused, and naturally curious about how to improve business performance.
- You thrive in fast-moving environments and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in the retail clothes and accessories sector will be highly regarded.
- You bring a collaborative, positive approach and enjoy being part of a team that is focused on growth, performance, and customer outcomes.
