Gen Re currently has anexcellent opportunity for a Treaty P&C Underwriter based in our Paris office .

Main Purpose of the Role

This role is within the Paris Treaty P&C Underwriting team, reporting to the Treaty Underwriting Manager, with responsibility for structuring, underwriting, pricing, and portfolio management of our Property & Casualty treaty business in the French, Belgium & Nordic markets.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, communication skills, and good knowledge of insurance and reinsurance. Problem solving, critical thinking and the ability to go beyond the obvious are key characteristics for this role.

Key Responsibilities

-Underwriting of proportional and non-proportional treaty reinsurance business in France, Belgium & Nordic countries under the responsibility of the Treaty Underwriting Manager.
-Assessing portfolio risk and related volatility
-Pricing with application of pricing models
-Developing market benchmarks based on industry data
-Contract wordings & processing of contractual documentation
-Further development & maintenance of the existing treaty business with an underwriting-profit oriented approach
-Support our Account Executives to design appropriate reinsurance solutions for existing & new clients based on their portfolios and their needs.
-Ensure completion of administrative tasks such as reporting and system data entries

Qualifications & Experience

-Treaty reinsurance market experience in underwriting, marketing, or sales
-Knowledge of primary market(s)
-University degree in actuarial, finance, economics, law or similar would be an advantage
-The ability to think quickly and offer creative solutions to problems
-Capacity to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
-Strong technological and math / analytical skills
-Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and curiosity
-Fluent in French and English language with strong written & verbal communication skills
-Good negotiation and commercial skills will be a plus.
