Our client is a well-established professional services firm with a strong presence in the German market and a growing Financial Services Advisory practice. The firm supports banking, insurance, and broader financial services clients across a range of complex risk, governance, regulatory, and financial crime-related engagements.


The Role

Working with a diverse portfolio of financial institutions, you will contribute to national and international engagements focused on strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing internal controls, managing regulatory expectations, and mitigating financial crime risks.


Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver internal audit assignments, including the assessment of governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
• Evaluate business processes and controls, conduct risk-based reviews, and support regulatory inspection and assurance activities.
• Perform reviews relating to regulatory compliance requirements, with a particular focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions, fraud prevention, and broader financial crime controls.
• Participate in forensic investigations relating to potential instances of fraud, misconduct, financial crime, or regulatory breaches within financial institutions.
• Prepare clear and concise reports, communicate findings to stakeholders, and support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
• Assist in the development of new methodologies, risk assessment approaches, and client solutions within the practice.
• Build strong client relationships and provide practical recommendations tailored to business and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Several years of professional experience within internal audit, compliance, risk management, forensic services, regulatory consulting, or a comparable function in the financial services sector.
• Good understanding of banking and financial services regulations, particularly in relation to AML, sanctions compliance, fraud prevention, and financial crime risk management.
• Familiarity with German and European regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations applicable to financial institutions.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while effectively managing stakeholders and building trusted client relationships.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Native-level German and strong English language skills are required. Additional languages would be advantageous.
