ISDA Documentation / Negotiation Specialist (Fixed Income / VP Level)
This VP-level professional role is aimed at strengthening the documentation function within the Fixed Income business. Through drafting and negotiating derivatives-related agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements and CSAs, the position supports the smooth execution of business activities and effective risk management.
The team is part of a broader APAC structure spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo, with approximately 10 members across the region. The Tokyo office operates as a lean, high-impact team, and this role is expected to serve as a key hub for Japan coverage, taking a leading role in local documentation activities. For candidates interested in regional mobility, there may also be opportunities to relocate to Hong Kong or Singapore in the future.
A key feature of this position is that it sits within the business side, rather than the legal department, and operates in close proximity to the trading floor. The role goes beyond contract review, requiring close collaboration with traders, sales, and risk management teams to provide practical support aligned with the pace of the business.
The main responsibilities focus on documentation work, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ISDA and other derivatives-related agreements. The role involves frequent coordination with global teams, requiring the ability to navigate both Japanese legal considerations and global standards.
The ideal candidate will have native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency, along with experience in contract negotiation and legal work within the securities or derivatives space. Direct documentation experience is preferred; however, candidates at the VP level with relevant legal experience in securities or derivatives will also be considered. A background involving hands-on contract negotiation and practical legal judgment is strongly preferred over purely operational experience.
