SPIRE Technical Specialist
Job Title: SPIRE Technical Specialist

Location: London

Duration: 6 months

Inside IR35

This is a great role for someone with experience of structured finance, SPV structures (in particular SPIRE - the Single Platform Investment Repackaging Entity), derivatives, fixed income and investment operations who is looking to help deliver a high-profile strategic initiative. If you enjoy solving complex cross-functional challenges, engaging with senior stakeholders, and turning ambitious concepts into practical solutions, we'd love to hear from you.

A bit about the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Shareholder Investment team and play a leading role in the development of our SPIRE programme. SPIRE has the potential to unlock a range of strategic investment opportunities across our shareholder and annuity portfolios.

Working closely with colleagues across our in-house Asset Manager, Treasury, Operations, Change, Risk, Legal and external operational partners, you will help design and progress SPIRE solutions from concept through to implementation readiness.

You will act as a subject matter expert, helping the business navigate complex technical challenges, challenge assumptions, identify practical solutions and establish a clear delivery roadmap. The role offers significant exposure across our business and the opportunity to influence a strategic initiative with meaningful commercial and operational benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the technical assessment and development of SPIRE structures and associated use cases.
  • Assess the feasibility, risks, benefits and implementation requirements of proposed SPIRE solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders across Investments, Treasury, Operations, Risk, Finance, Change and external partners to resolve project blockers.
  • Provide expertise on SPV structures, derivatives, fixed income and associated operating models.
  • Support analysis of regulatory, accounting, reporting and governance implications.
  • Produce high-quality papers, business cases and stakeholder communications to support decision making and governance approvals.
  • Help develop future operating models, controls and processes required to support SPIRE implementation.

Skills and experience we're looking for

  • Proven experience with 'SPIRE' SPV within an Insurer.
  • Significant experience of structured finance, SPV structures, derivatives, fixed income or related investment solutions.
  • Strong understanding of insurance or asset management operating environments and the interaction between investment, operational, regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working on complex cross-functional change initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively and drive progress in ambiguous environments.

Desirable experience

  • Experience of insurance investment or asset management, annuity portfolios or Matching Adjustment portfolios.
  • Knowledge of Solvency II, structured products, funded reinsurance or collateral optimisation solutions.
  • Experience engaging with custodians, asset servicers, investment operations teams or external structuring providers.

Please ensure that you attach an up-to-date CV to your application.

We're inclusive and welcome everyone - we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don't, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working - spending at least 50% of their time in our offices every week - combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.

We'd love it if you could submit your application online. If you require an alternative method of applying, or if you have any queries in relation to the vacancy, please contact Alannah Burgess on 07391381173.
