The Fraud and Financial Crime Prevention Oversight team p rovides proactive support and constructive challenge to the 1st Line, utilising intelligence and meaningful MI to focus oversight activity where the risks are highest. We're currently looking for an experienced Senior Manager to join the F&FCP Oversight team based in either London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, or Edinburgh.

As a Senior Manager you'll provide intelligence led, risk-based support and challenge, to ensure that Economic Crime risks are identified and effectively managed by the Commercial Banking business, and by the Strategic Fraud & Financial Crime Projects Portfolio Product Managers, so as to minimise customer impact and reduce the harm to our communities caused by criminals and terrorists.

You'll use intelligence, and Commercial Banking, Economic Crime risk and controls, and change management delivery expertise, to inform the development and delivery of targeted/proportionate oversight and assurance reviews. You'll also develop and maintain constructive stakeholder relationships across the Group, and provide inspiration leadership and development for Oversight colleagues.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Act as a key 2LOD F&FC point of contact for Commercial Banking Financial Crime risks, regulatory/policy requirements and detection and prevention controls.
  • Review intelligence to enable risk based prioritisation of oversight and assurance delivery activities (primarily Commercial and Strategic F&FC Projects).
  • Design and deliver effective oversight and assurance reviews making recommendations for control improvements where required.
  • Build and maintain constructive and effective relationships with Commercial Banking, Strategic Change Programme Teams, 2LOD Compliance (CCOR), Audit and wider F&FC Risk stakeholders to deliver required outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of Commercial Banking 1LOD risk team and Strategic initiatives, to ensure adherence to F& FC policies and standards, effectively challenging: to balance robust controls, customer impacts and effective use of resource deployed.
  • Develop and appraise allocated colleagues so that their individual and collective performance meets and exceeds the current and future needs of the individuals and the bank.
  • Deputise for Head of Oversight.


An experienced Financial Crime Risk professional, you'll need to have strong technical knowledge of Sanctions, AML, and AB Financial Crime Prevention and detection controls. You'll also need to have knowledge of Commercial Banking markets, products and customer base (e.g. FI, Global Corporates, SME).

The ability to quickly absorb, analyse and interpret data including root cause analysis is essential, as is the ability to deliver change and improvements, ideally having experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

A confident and impactful communicator, you'll need to have the ability to explain complex risk terms in business language, and proven experience in building and managing relationships, gaining commitment along the way.

You'll also need to demonstrate inspirational and collaborative leadership, and have the ability to inspire, motivate, develop, and lead a team.
