TLT Legal Solicitor Apprenticeship 2027

Fast-paced, fast-growing, and forward-thinking - TLT is the law firm that helps clients stay one step ahead, and we do the same for our people.

We work with high-profile clients across innovative sectors. With local, national, and international reach, we have over 1,800 people based in offices across the UK and a network of partner firms in Europe, India, and the US. TLT was named Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2023 - the third consecutive year we've received this accolade, following wins at The Lawyer Awards in 2021 and the British Legal Awards in 2022.

About the Programme

Our six-year Legal Solicitor Apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to build your legal knowledge and business development experience while studying for a law degree. You'll be at the heart of the action from day one - doing real work, delivering real results, and gaining recognition for your achievements.

You'll work with clients from sectors including Future Energy, Digital, Infrastructure, Financial Services, Leisure, Food & Drink, Public Sector, Real Estate, and Retail & Consumer Goods.

Throughout the programme, you'll be supported by a dedicated supervisor who will help you develop your technical legal knowledge and commercial awareness. Alongside your university studies, you'll also attend development workshops designed to build the mindset, focus, and resilience needed for a successful legal career.

Programme Structure

Years 1-2: Foundation Stage (Junior Paralegal to Paralegal Level)

Apprentices begin at Junior Paralegal level, undertaking two 12-month rotations across different legal teams.

Academic study mirrors the early years of a traditional law degree, covering foundational law and practice including public law, contract law, tort law and dispute resolution, legal research, and professional practice skills.

Work will vary by team but typically includes legal admin, research tasks, and early exposure to client matters.

Years 3-4: Development Stage (Paralegal to Senior Paralegal Level)

Apprentices continue with two further 12-month rotations, taking on more complex legal work.

Academic study covers further areas of law and practice such as criminal law, land law, company law and trusts law and coaching and professional practice skills.

Ongoing supervision and mentoring help apprentices refine their legal and commercial skills.

Years 5-6: Trainee Solicitor Stage

Apprentices join the Trainee Solicitor cohort and complete four 6-month seat rotations.

During this time, they will prepare for and undertake the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).

Work becomes increasingly aligned with that of a newly qualified solicitor, with greater responsibility and client exposure.

What We're Looking For

We're successful because we challenge convention and embrace innovation. We value individual thinking and trust our people to deliver great work for great clients - whatever their role.

We're looking for candidates who are:

  • Academically strong

  • Commercially agile

  • Curious, collaborative, and committed to a career in law

Minimum Requirements

  • 128 UCAS points (ABB at A-Level or equivalent)

  • Right to work in the UK

Please ensure the grades you provide in your application are an honest and realistic reflection of your predicted or achieved results. We will verify qualifications before any offer is confirmed and reserve the right to withdraw offers where applicants do not meet our minimum academic requirements. We encourage candidates to apply only where they are genuinely on track to achieve the required grades. This helps ensure a fair recruitment process for everyone, including applicants who already meet, or are consistently predicted to meet, the eligibility criteria.

Inclusion & Accessibility

TLT is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals, regardless of disability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

We are also committed to making our recruitment process accessible. If you require any reasonable adjustments or support, please contact the Early Careers team at EarlyCareers@tlt.com.
