Are you an experienced Credit Controller looking to join a growing organisation where you can make a real impact? We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to take ownership of a high-value customer portfolio, ensuring efficient debt collection, account reconciliation, and exceptional stakeholder management.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a large and complex sales ledger, driving cash collection performance, resolving invoice queries, and building strong relationships with both customers and internal teams. You will play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial performance by ensuring outstanding balances are collected within agreed payment terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts with significant annual revenue values.
- Proactively chase outstanding invoices via telephone, email, and online customer portals.
- Work towards monthly cash collection and overdue debt targets.
- Provide regular updates to management on outstanding payments, queries, and account status.
- Produce and maintain aged debt reports, including analysis and commentary on overdue balances.
- Investigate and resolve complex billing, pricing, and invoice-related queries.
- Reconcile customer accounts, allocate payments, and manage credit note balances accurately.
- Build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to support prompt payment.
- Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with data protection and company policies.
- Maintain high standards of customer service while working in a fast-paced environment.
About You
- Previous experience in a Credit Control or Sales Ledger role.
- Strong understanding of allocations, postings, journals, debits, and credits.
- Experience managing large and complex ledgers.
- Proven ability to perform accurate account reconciliations.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and conditional formatting.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Adaptable, professional, and team-oriented approach.
Desirable Experience
- AAT, CICM qualification, or currently studying towards a professional qualification.
- Experience within the public sector, healthcare, or NHS-related environments.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
