Python Developer (Life & Pensions)

6-Month Contract | UK Based | Hybrid Working

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join a leading Life & Pensions organisation on a major transformation programme. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, actuarial teams, operations, risk, and technology functions to design, develop, and enhance data-driven solutions that support regulatory reporting, operational efficiency, and business decision-making.

This role requires a technically strong developer with experience building scalable Python applications, automation solutions, and data pipelines within a regulated financial services environment. Experience within Life & Pensions, Insurance, Investments, or Wealth Management is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
• Build and optimise data pipelines for processing large volumes of policy, customer, investment, and operational data.
• Develop automation solutions to replace manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Create APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Support reporting and analytics capabilities across Life & Pensions operations.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop reusable components and frameworks to support future development activities.
• Enhance data quality, controls, monitoring, and exception management processes.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions align with organisational standards.
• Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience developing applications in Python.
• Experience with:
  • Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
  • API development and integration.
  • SQL and relational databases.
  • Data modelling and ETL development.
  • Git version control and CI/CD practices.
• Experience working within a regulated financial services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing automated reporting and data processing solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
