Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Director, Head of Brand Voice to help shape how Visa shows up in the world-building a distinctive, modern, and scalable voice system for Visa across Global Brand, North America Brand, and the clients and partners we serve.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced brand voice and content leader who can connect and steer our brand voice, guide writers and cross-functional partners, and deliver simple, human, culturally relevant copy guidance across Campaigns, lifecycle marketing, product experiences, communications, and client-facing work.
The ideal candidate brings strategic storytelling leadership, strong creative judgment, and the operational discipline to move complex messaging work through a highly matrixed global organization. They will help the studio raise the bar for clarity, consistency, and creative ambition-ensuring Visa's voice feels unmistakably Visa while flexing across markets, audiences, channels, and moments.
As Head of Brand Voice, you will own the end-to-end voice function for-from voice principles, messaging architecture, and editorial standards through campaign language, lifecycle content, product narratives, client marketing, and executive-level brand moments.
A key part of this role is to help pioneer the future of creative language inside the Visa Creative Function. You will identify and adopt emerging AI writing tools and content technologies that improve speed, quality, workflow automation, creative versioning, localization, and governance-while protecting craft, brand standards, cultural relevance, and the integrity of Visa's voice.
This role will partner closely with leaders and teams across Visa -- Global Brand, North America Brand, Marketing Services, Product, Communications, Legal, regional marketing teams, agency partners, and external creators.
This role will report into the VP, Global Brand Creative.
What you'll do:
Lead a modern, high-performing brand voice function for Visa Creative Function
- Own and evolve Visa's voice and tone strategy across Global Brand, North America Brand, Marketing Services, lifecycle marketing, social, product experiences, client marketing, and partner-facing work.
- Translate Visa's brand strategy, creative principles, and business priorities into clear messaging systems, voice guidance, editorial standards, and practical tools that help teams write with consistency and confidence.
- Lead language development for integrated brand campaigns, creative platforms, lifecycle journeys, product narratives, social storytelling, client marketing, thought leadership, and high-visibility executive moments.
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of writers, lifecycle copywriters, editorial writers, and content strategists, setting clear priorities, strengthening craft, and building an operating model that enables consistently excellent work.
- Serve as a senior voice and narrative partner to creative, design, strategy, marketing, product, communications, legal, regional, and agency teams, helping teams make clear decisions and protect the integrity of Visa's voice.
- Build scalable systems, review processes, playbooks, and workflows that give Visa Creative Function greater visibility, consistency, speed, and accountability across written work.
- Champion AI-enabled writing and content practices, integrating emerging tools responsibly to unlock scale, speed, localization, creative experimentation, quality control, and stronger asset delivery.
Build a culture of creative excellence and innovation
- Advance a culture of writing excellence by evolving Visa's voice ecosystem, strengthening strategic partnerships, and introducing tools and ways of working that help ideas move from strategy to expression with greater impact.
- Provide thought leadership and modern brand voice expertise that helps Visa Creative Function create stronger, simpler, more culturally relevant work across global, regional, social, product, lifecycle, communications, and client marketing needs.
- Create a team environment where writers feel supported, challenged, accountable, and empowered to do the best work of their careers.
- Support the development of remarkable ideas-across every marketing touchpoint-that resonate with audiences, earn an outsized share of cultural conversation, and create competitive advantage for Visa.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10-15+ years of experience in brand voice, copy, content strategy, creative, or integrated marketing leadership, including experience leading and developing writers, content strategists, and partner teams inside an in-house studio, global brand, or agency environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- Proven leadership building and scaling brand voice systems for a major global brand, in-house creative studio, or top agency, with experience across brand, regional, lifecycle, social, product, communications, and client marketing workstreams.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling craft, with a strong portfolio across integrated brand campaigns, digital experiences, lifecycle marketing, editorial content, social, product narratives, and UX copy.
- Demonstrated ability to translate brand strategy and creative ambition into clear voice principles, messaging architecture, editorial standards, governance models, and practical tools that teams can adopt at scale.
- Experience managing and developing writers, lifecycle copywriters, editorial writers, content strategists, agencies, and external creators while building a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable creative culture.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across a complex matrix and guide decisions under pressure while protecting brand consistency and creative quality.
- Fluency with AI writing tools and emerging content technologies, with the ability to use them responsibly to improve workflows, accelerate delivery, support localization, increase quality, and scale content creation.
- Operational rigor, with experience building scalable processes, intake and review models, playbooks, and workflow systems that improve consistency, speed, and accountability across a high-volume creative studio.
- Strong understanding of how voice and tone adapt across audiences, markets, platforms, touchpoints, and cultural contexts while remaining true to a global brand system.
