Our client, a reputable international corporate bank, is seeking an experienced AVP, Sanctions Compliance, to join its 2nd Lod FCC AML team. This role will play a key part in managing sanctions-related risks, conducting investigations, advising stakeholders on regulatory requirements, and supporting the bank's ongoing sanctions compliance framework.

Your new role
- Investigate and review sanctions screening alerts, escalations, and potential matches arising from customer, payment, and trade finance activities.
- Conduct complex sanctions assessments involving OFAC, UN, EU, UK, Hong Kong, and other applicable sanctions regimes.
- Perform in-depth analysis of sanctions screening alerts across payment screening, customer screening, and cross-border transactions to identify potential sanctions exposure and regulatory risks.
- Analyse end-to-end payment flows, transactional activity, and supporting documentation to evaluate sanctions risks, determine true or false matches, and make well-supported disposition recommendations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OFAC regulations, sanctions programmes, and evolving regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Review and maintain AML reporting ensuring accuracy and completeness, while identifying and escalating suspicious activities to the appropriate Financial Crime Compliance teams for further investigation.
- Assist with correspondent banking due diligence reviews, sanctions-related Requests for Information (RFIs), and complex financial crime compliance enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Investigate, assess, and escalate complex sanctions cases, high-risk transactions, and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to special projects, regulatory initiatives, and other compliance-related responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll need to succeed
- Require 5-8+ years of AML Sanctions experience in Banking. With payment sanctions, experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Highly organised with strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
