22-year-old Goldman alum at Kalshi branded "the coffee boy" by gaming exec feuding with the CEO

Working at a startup like Kalshi instead of a bank has its perks and drawbacks. You can get into high-impact client-facing roles much more quickly than a banking analyst, but you can also be subject to the bizarre sequence of events recently faced by Nicolas Hull. He joined Kalshi's business development team as a graduate this year after internships at Goldman and two private equity firms, but was publicly mocked on X over the weekend by Victor Rocha, conference chair of the Indian Gaming Association.

Rocha said that Kalshi had been emailing tribal leaders to organize meetings at the Global Gaming Expo conference in Las Vegas, and that Hull would be the one conducting those meetings. "They're sending the coffee boy," Rocha said, describing him as "the intern... I think this might be his first big boy job." Rocha also mocked the appearance of another Kalshi employee that replied to the tweet and replied "f*** off" to Max Crowley, Kalshi's VP of business development, who defended Hull and said that the firm had already reached an agreement with one tribal leader with "more on the way." Rocha, Hull and Kalshi each did not respond to a request for comment.

This is part of an ongoing feud between the Indian Gaming Association and Kalshi. The New York Post reported last week that Kalshi tried to hire Rocha as an advisor last year, but that talks fell through after some ill-fated meetings in which Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour allegedly tried to discuss their shared "generational burden." Rocha subsequently described Mansour as a "lying little twerp," and said that his company should be "curb stomp[ed]." 

Much of the feud hinges on the notion that Kalshi says its event contracts are financial instruments, which are not subject to gambling regulations. Kalshi markets these contracts as an opportunity to bet on events without going up against a house.
