Hedge fund Citadel hired Citi's psychotherapist for its expanding array of in-house health clinics
If you fall ill at a large investment bank, you are in the right place. There is no need to leave the building and it is not necessary to take to your bed. You can simply visit the onsite clinic where your mental and physical health needs will be catered for before you return to your desk.

Banks have this approach, and now hedge funds are hiring physicians too. As big hedge funds become big institutions like banks, they are getting onboard with the integrated health approach. Or at least Citadel is.
Citadel has had onsite medical care for a whole, but now it's hired Eva Churchill, who spent nearly nine years working as an in-house psychotherapist at Citi in New York. Churchill will be offering therapy part-time at Citadel instead.
Churchill is not Citadel's only health-related hire. It has also hired various nurses and medics to work with its new chief medical officer Dr. David Stark, who joined from Morgan Stanley last September.
Stark, who is a medical doctor with a PhD in "biomedical informatics" can be found at Citadel's New York office, but Citadel also has a new clinic for its people in Miami. The two clinics started out catering for physical health but are offering mental health services and coaching too.
Citadel declined to comment. Being a portfolio manager at a hedge fund is not always easy. Speaking in 2023, Will England, the CEO of Walleye, described the role as psychologically challenging, "because you're going to be wrong basically just as much as you're going to be right."
