HSBC veteran of 17 years returns to the firm after just a year away
Property sales volumes in the UAE were down by 37% in the first 12 days of March. The central bank stepped in to support its banking industry. Oh, and missiles are falling on the city. If you’re in the city now, maybe it’s a good time to… Get another job.

David Gizard joined HSBC in Dubai as an MD and head of the firm’s structured solutions in the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey. He joined the British bank from French rival Credit Agricole, where he was also an MD head of strategic equity transaction for APAC and the Middle East.
HSBC is a bit of a homecoming for Gizard. He spent more than 17 years at the firm across London, Hong Kong, and the UAE before leaving for Crédit Agricole – where he spent just a year and a half. Clearly something in the water at HSBC agrees with him.
Gizard moving jobs across town is a vote of confidence in the city. There was a $350k ticket out of town when the conflict began – but footage of missile strikes with the Burj Khalifa in the background have been scant since then. “The most intense aspects of the conflict will recede over the next few weeks,” ratings agency S&P Global anticipated a few weeks ago. Maybe a fluid people market is proof that it has.
