One of Nomura's top Singapore prop traders resigned

Having been blown away in the aftermath of financial crisis, proprietary (prop) traders are a thing of the past at most banks in most jurisdictions. Most banks want their traders hedging and market making instead.

Nomura is not most banks. It still employs people to take proprietary risk and now one of them is not there. Pawan Bhargava in Singapore has resigned.

Nomura didn't respond to a request to comment for this article and nor did Bhargava himself. We have it on good authority, though, that Bhargava left this week to the surprise of colleagues.

It's not clear where he's going next.

Bhargava joined Nomura in 2022 after 18 years as a STIRT trader at Credit Suisse where he was latterly head of G10 FX fowards trading.
