Role Summary

An opportunity for a Japanese-speaking Assistant Relationship Manager to work directly alongside senior bankers at a leading Asian External Asset Manager, helping to grow Japanese client coverage from Hong Kong with a clear path toward Relationship Manager for strong performers.

The client is an independent, client-first External Asset Manager founded and led by some of Hong Kong's most respected senior private bankers. Operating on a multi-custodian model, the firm advises on and manages client assets held with multiple custodian private banks, combining open-architecture access with the continuity of a long-term, personal advisory relationship.

Team & Reporting Line

The Assistant Relationship Manager will partner directly with senior Relationship Managers and partners in a flatter organizational structure where decisions sit closer to the people who serve clients. This enables broader responsibility, faster learning, and direct visibility with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner senior Relationship Managers and partners on the coverage of Japanese-speaking HNW and UHNW clients, providing front-office support with genuine client contact
2. Lead client onboarding with custodian banks, managing KYC, AML, and customer due diligence, gathering and presenting source-of-wealth and source-of-funds documentation to a high standard
3. Coordinate account opening and ongoing account maintenance across multiple custodian private banks, ensuring documentation, mandates, and client records remain complete and current
4. Prepare portfolio reviews, meeting packs, and investment proposals in Japanese and English, tailored to each client's objectives and communication preferences
5. Support trade order handling and execution follow-up with custodians within licensed scope, ensuring accurate instructions, confirmations, and record-keeping

This position is based in Hong Kong and operates within an office environment with regular client-facing interactions.
